The Health Insights Platform was created to encourage business and technical teams to collaborate more over data. The platform is designed for business users to quickly understand and use data to guide and assist clients into making data-driven decisions and data-supported ideas; and for technical users to conduct deep dives into data through fast and easy access to multiple data sources in order to create powerful and insightful analytics for clients.

Role & Responsibilities

As the design lead, I was tasked to...

  • Managed the day-to-day Design team activities to stay on track to commitments, prioritized tasks, and removed obstacles

  • Led business and technical stakeholders to define and achieve alignment on product vision

  • Owned the real-time allocation and workload of all direct team resources, across the entirety of the design process, from inception to delivery

  • Tracked KPIs and milestones to ensure they are met, documented project process, and updated stakeholders on project status regularly; produce reports as appropriate/requested

  • A user friendly, intuitive interface for data-minded and business-oriented teams to collaborate efficiently  

  • A platform that power users can manage all aspects of their research, storytelling with ease 

  • A storage service that connects data and business to tell an important and insightful story  

  • Accelerate users' efficiency through improvements on processes and workflows in partnership with organization’s leadership and internal development team

  • Promote data integrity across all of the organization’s systems 

Process Summary

Define Product Vision

I worked with the product owners to understand what value(s) they hoped the product will bring to the business and its users, and who the potential users of the product were.

Identify Touchpoints

The product established a new way of working that would support each user type on their specific tasks within a given team/project, and strengthen the team’s collaboration and communication.

Conduct User Research

I guided my team to ideate on general topics which led to questions that would help our team to identify the potential values business and its users would want in the new product.

Visualize the Process

I defined the product's features and worked with my team to produce wireframes, from paper sketches to lo-fidelity mockups, to aid all stakeholders and users in visualizing the new process and product.

Prioritize Wants/Needs

I led design thinking sessions to synthesize the user research gathered in a specified list of users and business wants and needs. I then managed the prioritization of said list.

Deliver Hi-Fi Designs

I created the final, high-fidelity wireframes-turned interactive prototype, and presented them to the business stakeholders to build buy-in and provide engineers visual directions for build. 

02 Conduct User Research

I guided my team to ideate on general topics which led to questions that would help our

team to identify the potential values business and its users would want in the new product. 

 
  • The team and I interviewed business stakeholders and target users based on the general topics we ideated to gather insights on current process and ideal future process to define the product vision for the launch of the platform.

  • I led the team to create an affinity map to highlight common themes to be used in next steps such as prioritization and feature definition.

  • The team and I created user personas through the data we've collected during our user research to help guide us as we design for the various user types on the platform.

  • I spearheaded the activity and documentation to outline business and users' current processes and tools so that the team and I can best streamline and design a new process and tool that will bridge, and illustrate to stakeholders any gaps and address challenges with existing processes and tools.

03 Prioritize Wants/Needs

I led design thinking sessions to synthesize the user research gathered in a specified

list of users and business wants and needs. I then managed the prioritization of said list. 

 
  • I managed the discussions around features and their prioritization through activities such as bullseye diagramming, which resulted in a product roadmap I drafted for business stakeholders' consideration.

  • This and other design activities I led, along with deliverables the team and I produced shaped the design outputs such as wireframes and documents that guided the platform's future developments.

04 Identify Touchpoints

The product established a new way of working that would support each user type on their specific

tasks within a given team/project, and strengthen the team’s collaboration and communication. 

 
  • We do not have time to collect data as we’re on the ground so we tend to forget interaction details by the time we’re back in the office or we have to quickly jot them down while trying to keep the youths engaged.

  • A simple app that can help us capture the interaction details quickly without much manual intervention would be great as we’re not tech savvy.
